Armor Sets in Allumeria
What to wear in forest, snow, and desert chapters.
Allumeria’s armor system tracks metal tiers the same way weapons do. Each major biome introduces a new metal set, and the upgrade path is mandatory before entering the corresponding dungeon. This page covers all six armor sets available in Early Access 0.15, their defence values, and the practical order of crafting. Pair it with the tools progression page for the parallel pickaxe ladder and the weapons tier list if you are deciding between a sword and a chestplate.
How armor works
Armor in Allumeria provides defence points that reduce incoming physical damage. Each piece (helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots) contributes to your total defence. Full sets may provide set bonuses depending on the metal. Defence is not damage negation; a Yeti still hits hard in cobalt armor, but you survive more than one blow.
The five trinket slots do not interact with armor directly, but movement trinkets (Gecko Gloves, Paraglider) effectively extend your survivability by letting you dodge or escape.
Armor sets by metal
Copper Armor — The first real set. Craft Copper Ingots at a Furnace and assemble at a Workbench. Available immediately after your first copper vein. This is what you wear into the Forest Dungeon. Do not enter the dungeon in Flint Armor; the defence gap is significant against Forest Fuzzies and Jelly attacks.
Iron Armor — Higher defence than copper. Smelt Iron Ore once you find it (usually below copper layers). Iron is the forest-to-snow bridge set; it handles most forest content and gives you enough defence to survive a Snow Spirit phase if you rush in undergeared.
Silver Armor — Smelted from Silver Ore. Silver is less common than iron but more common than gold in standard forest worlds. The set defence sits between iron and gold. Use it as a transitional set while you scout for gold veins.
Gold Armor — High defence but expensive in forest. Gold Ore is more common in snow biome stone. Do not tunnel for gold in the forest if snow is already accessible. Bring gold armor into the Snow Dungeon rather than trying to farm it early in the starting biome.
Forest Armor — Crafted from Forest Ingots (smelted using thorns from Undergrowth enemies and Forest Dungeon drops). Forest Armor is the mid-forest-chapter set, equivalent to iron in raw defence but with the advantage of being crafted rather than mined. It is the set you wear after the Forest Dungeon and before cobalt.
Cobalt Armor — The snow biome set. Smelt Cobalt Ore from underground snow caves. Higher defence than Forest Armor and the practical defence cap for the Snow Spirit fight. Craft cobalt armor before attempting the Snow Dungeon.
Palladium Armor — The desert biome set and current Early Access ceiling. Palladium Ore appears in desert stone. The highest base defence in 0.15. Wear this into the desert tower dungeon and for the worm boss fight.
Armor crafting and progression
The crafting guide covers station recipes for each metal tier. The general rule: smelt the ore, go to the Workbench, craft the full set before equipping. Partial sets are acceptable in emergencies but full sets are always better.
Mixing metals is allowed. A cobalt helmet with palladium chestplate is legal and sometimes optimal if you need the helmet slot for a specific look or if cobalt is scarce. The set bonus (if any) does not apply to mixed sets.
When to upgrade
Upgrade when the next biome’s content outpaces your current set. If Forest Fuzzies in the Forest Dungeon are hitting you for concerning amounts, upgrade from copper to iron before spending a Forest Key. If Yetis in snow are two-shotting you in iron, push for cobalt before the Snow Spirit attempt.
Do not upgrade for aesthetic reasons during a progression sprint. A full iron set beats a mixed palladium-and-flint outfit. Follow the progression checklist for the correct upgrade order.
Armor and the boss fights
Forest Spirit, Snow Spirit, and the desert worm all deal damage that full armor reduces but does not eliminate. The Snow Spirit’s tophat slam (about 20 damage) is survivable in full cobalt if your HP is near the forty-cap from Heart Beets. The Forest Spirit’s contact damage is similarly manageable with iron or better.
Heart Beets matter as much as armor for survivability. Eat beets to reach the ten-heart cap before attempting any boss, regardless of armor tier. See the boss guide for specific fight preparation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How many armor sets are in Allumeria?
Six to seven sets depending on build: Copper, Iron, Silver, Gold, Forest, Cobalt, and Palladium. The exact number in 0.15 is confirmed as six on current wiki sources.
Should I craft armor or weapons first?
Weapons first if your current weapon is a significant tier below the enemy. Armor first if you are already one-shotting enemies but taking too much damage yourself.
Can I mix armor sets in Allumeria?
Yes. Mixing is allowed. Set bonuses (if any) do not apply to mixed sets, but the raw defence from each piece still counts.
What armor do I need for the Snow Spirit?
Cobalt Armor is the practical target. Full iron is survivable in early phases, but the tophat slam and Yeti adds make cobalt the safer choice.
